Analysis of fault bend folding kinematic models and comparison with an analog experiment

Analog modeling of a flat-ramp-flat fault system was performed and its geometry displacement field were compared to those different kinematic models such as classical bend folding, parallel flow, incline-shear, curvilinear hinge, backlimb trishear. To obtain the vectors analog experiment, Particle Image Velocimetry performed. All analyzed could explain general configuration folding. However, only trishear represent geometry, directions particle displacements, relations between displacements’ vectors. We propose in this paper that combination asymmetry angles apical model for each fold be very versatile simulating folds. Backlimb angle can used control shape hinges fold, while convolve velocity particles above fault. Both asymmetries from zero imply thickness changes. Fault folds with high inclination forelimbs reproduced positive anticline bends
